Kathy Field, MSW, LGSW, Parent Educator
Kathy has a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of St. Thomas / College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota and furthered her career of working with children. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Family Life from University of Wisconsin- Stout, and Early Childhood Education certification from the State of MN.
Kathy has worked with children and families for twenty- five years. Currently, at FACTS, her role is to work with parents and their children referred by the county for parent education support and skills. Future plans include completing work to get her independent clinical license to expand her work as a therapist doing play therapy with children, as well as working with parents and couples.
Kathy’s passion is to see children and their parents or guardians, increase experiences that lead to a more secure attachment. She uses psycho education, skills training, cognitive behavioral, play, and psychodynamic approaches in this work. Some of the issues that she works with children and parents on are: parent-child attachment, traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relational problems, co parenting, abuse and crisis work. She has also published a research study on Traumatized Children: What Teachers and Social Workers can do Together.
